Insured persons of contracting states

If a person insured in one contracting state suffers an injury at work, or is diagnosed with an occupational disease during temporary work in the other contracting state, they will receive health care on the basis of a recognized injury at work or diagnosed occupational disease in accordance with the contracted certificate of the right to health care that was issued to them by the competent holder before they were sent to temporary work in the other contracting state.

The procedure for recognizing occupational injuries or occupational diseases is carried out by the competent health insurance holder of the home state, in accordance with its legislation.

Citizens of non-contracting states

Citizens of countries with which Croatia does not have an interstate agreement (and which are not EU / EEA Member States / Switzerland / the UK), and who have the established status of a person insured in compulsory health insurance with the Croatian Health Insurance Fund, are entitled to health care on the basis of a recognized injury at work or diagnosed occupational disease in accordance with Croatian regulations.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. How can I use health care in another contracting state?

The certificate of the right to health care obtained from the competent foreign health insurance holder must be submitted to the health insurance holder of the country of temporary work at the place of residence. That holder will replace the aforementioned certificate with the health insurance certificate or another document, on the basis of which you will be able to use health care services provided by contracted health care providers of the country of residence.

2. What are my obligations in the event of injury at work or occupational disease in another contracting state?

In the event that you sustain an injury at work or an occupational disease in the contracting state to which you have been posted for temporary work, you must inform your employer and the competent health insurance holder in your home country of that fact within the deadlines provided for by the legislation of your home country.

3. How can I notify my competent health insurance holder of the resulting injury or disease?

You can notify your competent health insurance holder of any injuries at work or occupational disease, through a health insurance holder in the state of temporary work.
